When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves

FAQ’s

Is counselling confidential?

Yes, everything we talk about in the session remains confidential and stays between us. I will not share information or anything about the content of our session with other people. However, there are 3 exceptions to this:

1. During monthly supervision I will speak to my supervisor, a more experienced counsellor, about my clients and how we work together. Your identity is anonymised and my supervisor is not able to identify you.

2. If, during a session, I have concerns about the risk of serious harm to yourself or other people, I would speak to you about this and let you know if I intend to contact a third party (such as your emergency contact, police or emergency services).

3. There might be an incident in which I can breach confidentiality without informing you first: I am legally required to disclose and comply with the Childrens Act (1989), the Road Traffic Act (1991) and Terrorism Act (2000). I would need to breach confidentiality without informing you first.

I will discuss confidentiality and limits to confidentiality with you in your first session and you can ask questions if anything is unclear.

Can I ask counsellors for advice?

I work in a person-centred way, which means that I encourage clients to work out by themselves what it is they would like to be different in their life and find answers to their issues that resonate with them personally. This stance might feel frustrating at times, but if a client is able to work out their own solutions they have more meaning to them rather then their counsellor telling them what to do. People are unique and solutions that work for one person might not necessarily work for another.

Do you offer in-person or remote counselling?

At the moment I offer in-person counselling from a room in Central Marlow and home-visits to clients aged 12+ for anyone who feels more comfortable receiving therapy in their own home. Additionally I offer online counselling, using Microsoft Teams as my preferred platform. I will email you a new link to your preferred email address at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled session.

What age group do you work with?

In my private practice I currently work remotely with clients aged 16 years and over. I also offer home-visits for clients aged 12+.

How often will we meet and how long is each session?

It is up to the client to decide how often and when we meet; however, initially I suggest to have weekly counselling sessions to start establishing a trusting working relationship between us. The day and time will be mutually agreed and will remain the same each week. Each session is 50 minutes long.

What do you charge for a counselling session?

My fee is £60 per session for a 50-minute online session and £70 per session for a 50-minute home-visit. I offer concessions to low income households and students. Please talk to me and together we will find a rate that works for you. Any price increases will be communicated at least 6 weeks in advance before coming into effect. My bank details are included in my contract that I email to you after we mutually agree to work together.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you cannot attend your agreed session please allow 48 hours notice (free of charge); any cancellations made less than 48 hours will be charged at the full rate.

If, in the rare event that I am cancelling a session at short notice, I will ensure to reschedule your session at an alternative day and time that suits you.
